Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an Internet marketing technique used to improve the volume and quantity of traffic to a website from search engines. Unlike Pay Per Click techniques with sponsored links, it is designed to stream traffic through natural searches.
It does not take a genius to figure that the higher ranked a website is in a list of search results, the more likely that site is to be viewed. It is therefore in a companies interest to make sure its website is ranked towards the top of tailored web searches. For example, if I was a cheese supplier based in the Scottish Highlands – I would want a link to my web page to rank at the top of a search for ‘Scottish organic cheese’ and ‘Scottish cheese supplier’.
SEO allows a company to pay search engines (like Google and Yahoo) to rank there website highly for the entered searches of there choice.
